An XPASS pass is prepaid. You pay once for a fixed number of days, and when those days are used up the pass ends. Nothing is charged again, because there is no automatic renewal. This guide explains where to see your expiry time, how the end of the pass behaves and what renewing does before and after it.
Where to see when your pass ends
Open My Pass. It shows the expiry time of your pass. That time is displayed in UTC, a standard reference time that does not change with seasons or regions. Your local time may be several hours earlier or later, so convert it before you plan around it. If your pass ends late in the evening in UTC, it may end the next morning where you are.
The pass ends at that expiry time, not at the end of the calendar day in your city.

How the days are counted
The days start when your VPN access is created after payment, not when you first connect. If you buy a pass and wait a week to set it up, those days are still counting. This is why it helps to set up your device soon after your access arrives. The guide on getting started covers the full path.
What happens at expiry
- The VPN stops connecting. The app will not be able to sign in or keep the tunnel open.
- Your device goes back to its normal internet connection, without VPN protection. Avoid sensitive tasks on shared Wi-Fi until you renew.
- No payment is taken. You choose whether to buy more time.
- Your login is not lost. An expired pass can be renewed and it keeps the same login.
Renewing before expiry
If you renew while the pass is active, the new days are added on top of your current expiry. Remaining days are not lost, so there is no penalty for renewing early. For example, if two days remain and you renew with a pass that adds seven days, you have those two days plus seven more.
Renewing early avoids a gap, which matters if you rely on the VPN during travel or on public networks. Steps are in how to renew your VPN pass.

Renewing after expiry
You can also renew once the pass has ended. Open My Pass, choose to renew and pay. After the payment is confirmed, you keep the same login. Reconnect in the app. If it asks you to sign in again, use the details shown in My Pass. If you see "We're preparing your VPN. We'll email you when it's ready.", wait for the email and refresh the page.
Limits and things to watch
- Check the expiry time in UTC, not only the date.
- The sign-in link in your email is single-use and expires. If you need a new one, request it from the sign-in page. Login details are only shown inside My Pass and are never emailed. See where your login details are.
- If your VPN will not connect and you are unsure of the cause, an ended pass is one of the first things to check. See VPN not connecting.
Summary
Your pass ends at the expiry time shown in My Pass, it never renews by itself, and renewing adds days on top of what you have, whether you do it early or after expiry. If you would like more time, look at the pricing page.
